nSCI is committed to developing and hosting groundbreaking conferences to help explore and define the boundaries of science communication and build the science communication network. Our first conference was held in November 2013 on the current state of academic journal publishing. Topics covered included the impact of rising subscription costs on libraries, whether federally-funded research should be locked in subscription products, changes being considered in the relationship between journal publishing and tenure decisions, and much more.
